What is Lyric Discovery?

Lyric Discovery is a community for all independent lyricists, songwriters and artists looking for opportunities to expose their talent and be discovered. By becoming a member, you gain instant access to our network of professional services and affiliations; from music producers, A&R representatives and music publishers. Lyric Discovery brings opportunities to each member from contests, to song publishing and film licensing. The opportunties are endless, with new ways to be discovered throughout the year. 

Only Premium members can be selected for publishing in our catalogues and for submission to exclusive opportunities.

What is the value to paying for the Premium membership?

As a free member you are able to promote a limited amount of your lyrics and songs, which will never change, and we present opportunities to be discovered to everyone.  It is when you decide to submit to an opportunity, that Lyric Discovery begins to act on your behalf, in hopes of landing you a cut on an album, a publishing deal or a licensing deal.  We do all the paperwork for you, so naturally Lyric Discovery needs to charge a fee for the administration behind the scenes.  As an independent artist, with a tight budget, you can appreciate that management services are much higher than our low yearly fee.

How do I sell my lyrics?

Generally lyrics are not purchased, singers and other songwriters may ask you if they can use your lyrics and at that time you enter into a songwriters agreement. This agreement protects your copyright on the material and will provide you with 50% (industry standard) ownership of the song, assuming you have not put melody or music to the lyric. As well, you will receive 50% royality if the song is ever used or played commercially (less any publisher/admin fees). You can negotiate a higher percentage before entering into a co-write agreement. The world of royalities is complicated and we suggest you seek a professional consultant for more advise.

A & R Opportunities?

A & R in the traditional sense means Artist & Repertoire, a division within a record label that scouts talent for inclusion of the labels artist roster.

With the ever changing ways in which artists can do business in the digital world of music, an artist no longer needs to rely on record label scouts to be discovered!

Lyric Discovery is here to bring opportunities to our members by exposing their works to our network of industry professionals and helping you develop a successful music career!

We are your personal A & R representatives and Lyric Discovery will submit your works for possible song placement/ licensing, song publishing deals, and Indie record deals.
